2 quick things
1: Its not that the pastor got his theology wrong, its his interpretive method that was wrong
2: Jesus spoke aramaic not greek. while he may have spoke greek, its unlikely he would speak greek on the cross. So not only is his interpretive method flawed, he didn't look at what Jesus actually said on the cross, but rather John's greek translation thereof. This means he looked at the usage of the wrong word.
