Judge Throws Out Civil RICO Case Against Diddy – But Criminal Charges Still Loom

In a major update, a federal judge has dismissed the RICO claims brought by music producer Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones against Sean "Diddy" Combs in a civil lawsuit. Judge J. Paul Oetken ruled that the civil allegations lacked the evidence to tie Diddy’s alleged abuse to any organized criminal enterprise under the RICO statute.

However, this does not affect the criminal case currently unfolding in federal court, where Diddy faces serious charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, and transportation for prostitution. That trial—launched May 5, 2025—remains active, and the RICO charges are very much in play.

This civil case dismissal is not a win for Diddy—it's just one legal front of many. The criminal trial is where the real damage may still come.
