May 19 footage released by Ukraine’s Wild Hornets shows a Sting interceptor drone destroying a Russian Shahed mid-air. This marks the first public video of Ukraine’s new drone in combat. The Sting is a low-cost alternative to missiles, estimated to cost under $3,500 per unit.

Originally unveiled in October 2024, the Sting joins Ukraine’s expanding arsenal of interceptors including the Bullet and Besomar drones. With speeds up to 127 mph and FPV-guided kamikaze capabilities, the Sting is changing how Ukraine neutralizes incoming threats. Operators use VR goggles for control, with AI assistance in development.
