In a whirlwind of political developments, Republicans are moving aggressively on several fronts. House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) announced that high-profile investigations into the Biden family—including Hunter Biden—are imminent. Comer stated on *The Alex Marlow Show* that the House will compel testimony through subpoenas and depositions, not chaotic hearings, targeting both Biden associates and administration officials allegedly operating the “autopen” in place of a cognitively impaired president. He suggested prosecutions may follow with help from Trump’s DOJ, led by Pam Bondi.
Meanwhile, House Republicans narrowly passed President Trump’s sweeping legislative package, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” by a single vote (215-214). The bill, opposed unanimously by Democrats, would extend Trump-era tax cuts, remove taxes on tips and overtime through 2028, cut Medicaid and SNAP, and significantly increase defense and border security spending. While GOP supporters hailed it as a return to America First policy, critics warned it could add \$3.8 trillion to the national debt. Senate passage remains uncertain due to GOP infighting and a slim 53-47 majority.
In a related move, Rep. Thomas Massie announced he’s introducing a standalone bill to remove taxes on Social Security, arguing it’s immoral to “tax a tax.”
On immigration, Trump escalated his rhetoric, accusing Biden staffers of “treason at the highest level” for orchestrating an open border policy that allowed 15 million illegal crossings. He claimed Biden himself was not capable of directing the policy, blaming shadowy insiders who “stole the presidency” and calling for severe consequences. Vice President JD Vance echoed that sentiment, saying Biden staff—not the president—drove key decisions.
Further controversy erupted when U.S. District Judge Myong J. Joun, a Biden appointee, blocked Trump’s executive order to dismantle the Department of Education, arguing it unlawfully bypassed Congress. Critics branded Joun an activist judge stalling a major Trump campaign promise.
A Senate report led by Sen. Ron Johnson alleged the Biden administration withheld early data on myocarditis risks associated with mRNA COVID-19 vaccines. The report, based on thousands of internal documents, claims officials downplayed risks and delayed warnings to protect vaccine messaging.
In a tense Oval Office meeting, President Trump confronted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa with a video highlighting violence against white farmers. The footage featured chants like “Kill the farmer!” and images of memorials for murdered farmers. While Ramaphosa denied allegations of genocide, Trump held firm, raising concerns over racial violence and international silence. Though data doesn’t support claims of widespread genocide, farm attacks remain a troubling issue in South Africa, driven mostly by robbery but plagued by poor prosecution rates.
In economic news, John Deere announced a \$20 billion manufacturing investment in the U.S.—a major Trump-era win. But tragedy overshadowed celebrations as two young Israeli diplomats were murdered in Washington, D.C., near a Jewish cultural event. The shooter, reportedly motivated by anti-Israel sentiment, shouted “Free Palestine” before being arrested. Trump condemned the act as antisemitic terrorism, calling for an end to such violence.
As investigations, legislation, and international headlines stack up, Republicans are signaling that they’re just getting started.
