Gaza aid trickle _invitation for killing_ as famine spreads_ warns IFRC spokesperson

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Tommaso Della Longa, the spokesperson of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, described Gaza’s humanitarian situation as "a nightmare," stressing that recent aid deliveries are "less than a drop in the ocean." He revealed that while some trucks have entered, most Gazans "haven’t received anything," with needs now double the pre-war requirement of 500 daily trucks. Over 2 million displaced civilians face starvation, contaminated water, and collapsed healthcare, with half of Palestinian Red Crescent clinics closed due to shortages. Della Longa emphasised "silent deaths" from untreated chronic diseases, citing unavailable insulin, chemotherapy, and dialysis. Hospitals that once reopened during ceasefire periods are now shuttering without fuel or supplies. He condemned the international community’s inaction after 19 months of worsening crisis, calling it "unacceptable" in 2025. The Red Cross spokesperson warned that small-scale aid without safe access amounts to "an invitation for killing," as desperation grows.
