DEBUNKED! 'BLACKS COMMIT MORE CRIMES'

You've probably heard the statement, 'Blacks are overrepresented in the US prison system,' used to imply Black people's predisposition to crime. 

Charlie Kirk, an influential voice on the US right, repeats the claim here but not on Garrison Hayes' watch (@garrisonh). Kirk asserts that Black people, who makeup about 13 per cent of the population, commit a disproportionate number of crimes, thus constituting half of the prison population. It's a lie, as only 38 per cent of the prison population is Black, while white people make up 57 per cent of it.

The real story is that Black people in the US make up 53 per cent of exonerations, including 55 per cent of m*rder exonerations, meaning the 'justice system' disproportionately convicts Black people of crimes they did not commit. This omission is intentional, as including it would challenge the narrative Kirk seeks to promote.
