Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
Right effort means that we are not just being lazy and complacent. Right effort means we can always improve, and we need to stay mindful of thoughts, actions, and speech. So, right effort means simply applying what we know is right and getting rid of what we know is wrong. Really, moment by moment, this is our personal responsibility on the path. The Buddha always said that we achieve what we achieve through our own efforts, and right effort means that we are continually taking responsibility into our own hands.
