What Broke This Country?

Since I started working on this video, things have shifted—Romania has a new president: Nicușor Dan. There’s a wave of hope behind him, and I’ll admit it—I voted for him, both rounds. My biggest wish? That he doesn’t turn out to be an Emil Constantinescu 2.0.

He’s stepping into a mess. As of May 23rd, PSD reportedly wants nothing to do with governing, and without a majority in Parliament, Nicușor is walking a tightrope from day one.

And then there’s Simion. He nearly won. His campaign in the second round was one for the history books—controversial, intense, and worth a serious analysis down the line.
