One of the first scenes in the film is a young woman dancing at a bar. A man approaches her and she decides to follow him. The next day, she is kidnapped and forced to ride on a trailer.
The following scene introduces us to Brea. Now she writes for the Sacramento Post. She feels betrayed since another journalist is reporting on a huge scandal she had been working to break. Brea meets Carl, her supervisor, who dismisses her narrative as filler.
