SHARPTON: “Now, the Jewish community is mourning the shooting deaths of two Israeli embassy staffers killed this week outside of the capital Jewish museum in Washington. A suspect in that shooting now faces federal first degree murder charges. the White House has attempted to Link the killings to protest movements against Israel’s war in Gaza, claiming the incident is emblematic of a rise in anti-Semitism the administration says is trying to combat. I stood with Jewish leaders in New York denouncing the killing. It’s absolutely horrific. But at the same time, we may not support some of us. Certainly I don’t what is going on in Gaza. Do you agree with their reasoning, though, senator? What the administration is saying that links it to protest. And do you believe they’re sincere about protecting Jewish Americans?”

Smith: “Well, reverend sharpton, I know we all should. We all do. And we need to stand against anti-Semitism and hatred wherever we see it. And this shocking violence against these two young people was was horrible to see. And as far as I can tell, it was clearly fueled by anti-Semitism and hatred. But what the and I should say not, but because that is that stands on its own. But what the Trump Administration has been attempting to do is to Link any criticism of Israel and what has been happening in Gaza, and saying that that is by, on its face, anti-Semitic and I don’t believe that. And I think that the violence that was done, the killing that that happened, flies in the face of the values of so many of us who are doing everything that we can to stop the violence and cruelty and inhumanity that is happening in Gaza.”
