The military engagement in the vicinity of Pokrovsk resulted in the exhaustion of enemy formations engaged in a counteroffensive near Kotlyne. The AFU command redirected resources to the western flank of the axis, perceiving the eastern sector as less threatening.

Subsequent to regrouping and amassing forces, the Russian military initiated an offensive on Malynivka with the objective of severing the H-32 highway.

By May 4, on the eastern front, Russian assault groups had traversed the H-32 and engaged in combat on the outskirts of Malynivka. To the west, Russian military units advanced along the shore of the Miroliubivske Reservoir, entering the central part of the eponymous village.
