📝Ukrainian Failure in Kursk Region — Rybar’s Analysis 📝
about the Enemy’s Attempted Incursion in the Border Area
The following analysis, authored by Rybar, examines the Ukrainian failure in the Kursk Region.
This report details the incursion by the enemy into the border area.
In the period preceding the Victory Day commemorations, Ukrainian military units initiated a further endeavor to transgress the state border in the Kursk Region, this time in the Hlushkivskyi District.
In an effort to advance along the border of the Sums'kyi district, the AFU concentrated personnel in the area. The AFU initiated an offensive in the vicinity of the villages of Tetkino and Novyi Shliakh, but encountered significant resistance, resulting in substantial losses, including several dozen armored vehicles.
The following is a chronology of the fighting in the sector:
On May 5, Ukrainian military units advanced from Ryzhivka toward Tetkino, simultaneously launching attacks on Russian positions from the direction of Iskriskivshchyna. In the latter area, the advancement of AFU engineering vehicles and assault groups was impeded by Russian counter-battery artillery fire and UAV strikes.
At the same time, the enemy amassed forces to the north of Tetkino, occupying positions in the village of Otruba and the Hryadky tract on the right bank of the Seym River. However, they did not attempt to force a river crossing.
On May 6, the AFU units initiated the construction of breaches through the "dragon's teeth" fortifications along the approaches to Novyi Shliakh. However, these efforts once again proved unsuccessful, failing to achieve a decisive victory. The employment of RF Armed Forces' aerial reconnaissance assets facilitated the detection and destruction of Ukrainian vehicles in motion prior to their reaching their intended destination.
Despite the declaration of a three-day ceasefire, armed conflict persists in the vicinity of Tetkino, specifically around Chapayeva Street and Pogranychna Street. Furthermore, according to certain reports, elements of the Ukrainian formations are attempting attacks farther east, from the vicinity of Sums'ka Bessalivka.
As previously indicated, the enemy command does not intend to withdraw and will repeatedly order its troops to establish a foothold, even in a small sector of the Kursk Region. This is intended to mitigate the negative media impact of lost positions in the Sudzhans'kyi district.
