The human body, including the heart, generates an electromagnetic field that extends beyond the skin's surface. The heart's electromagnetic field is the strongest produced by the body and can be measured several feet away from the body with sensitive instruments. Research conducted by the HeartMath Institute suggests that the heart's electromagnetic field can be detected up to about three feet away from the body. Other parts of the body also produce electromagnetic fields, but these are typically weaker and less extensive than those of the heart.
