Broken promises

[Verse 1]
The rains had stopped, the ark stood still,
God had lost the thirst to kill.
Noah stepped on shattered shore,
With trembling hands and to his horror.

God looked down through storm and sky,
And whispered low, “No more shall die.
Though man is twisted from his youth,
I’ll spare the earth—I promise to.”

---

[Chorus]
I’ll give you a rainbow stretched up high,
A vow in color across the sky.
No more will I drown what I designed,
Though hearts may stray and faith unwind—
Still, mercy holds, through every why.

---

[Verse 2]
But time moved on, and man grew proud, With idols high and heads unbowed. He worshiped blood, and bowed to gold, hearts grew hard, their love turned cold.

God looked on with burning eyes,
Bound by words he’d come to despise.
A silence stirred, a rising flame—
“No mercy left—they bear the blame.”

---

[Bridge]
“No flood this time—but fire will fall,
And smoke will rise to choke them all.
When hearts decay and won’t repent,
Then wrath will come as punishment.

The bow still hangs, but now I call—
I lift my hand… to end it all.”

[Chorus]
I’ll give you a rainbow stretched up high,
A vow in color across the sky.
No more will I drown what I designed,
Though hearts may stray and faith unwind—
Still, mercy holds, through every why.

---

[Verse 3]
But time moved on we drowned this place
(or: I swore no flood would drown this place) But I kept fire—my hidden ace.
You mocked my sign, let evil reign,
So now I come with flame and pain.

---

[Outro]
So look to the sky as the heavens ignite—
Ashes will fall, blotting out your light.
I’ll burn down all your wicked ways,
I’ll curse you, hurt you,
And set you ablaze.

(Silence....)
