Tom Cruise Has Plans for Hollywood! Top Gun 3 & Tropic Thunder 2?

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning was a big contributor to the overall success of this past record-breaking Memorial Day long weekend box office. Amassing the biggest opening weekend in Mission: Impossible history at over $77 Million domestically, MI:8 is well on it's way to surpassing the disappointing haul of 2023's Dead Reckoning and if that's any indication, Tom Cruise might be very active in continuing other stories for the big screen.

According the Cruise's long time collaborator, Director Christopher McQuarrie has a script and story ready to go for a third Top Gun movie. As Maverick is widely considered a film that practically saved Hollywood upon release, you would have to imagine if there is a sequel, it will be fast tracked as soon as possible. But something a bit wider afield is a potential spin-off of 2008's Tropic Thunder with both McQuarrie and Cruise serious about a Les Grossman movie.

Could Tom Cruise be the guy to revive comedy in Hollywood?
