Mission Impossible - Megatron
The Tale of Tom Cruise, Joe Jukic, and Mike Jukic: The Great Megatron Caper
It was 1985, the year of Expo construction, neon dreams, and SkyTrain skeletons. In the grungy underbelly of Vancouver, before Tom Cruise was Top Gun, before Joe and Mike Jukic were legends, they were just kids on a mission: to liberate Megatron from the clutches of London Drugs’ toy aisle.
Tom Cruise, already glowing with movie-star mischief, met the brothers in an East Van alley. Joe had a plan. Mike brought the nerve. Tom? He brought the charisma—and a knack for climbing unfinished infrastructure.
“Leave the bikes,” Tom whispered. “I’ll carry them.” And he did—slung across his back like weightless medals of honor—as the trio scaled the ladder of the unfinished Expo SkyTrain tracks.
“Careful, Mike,” Tom said, grinning, “There are laser alarms on these rails. One wrong move and pew pew pew, you’re toast.”
Mike froze. Joe rolled his eyes. “They’re not real,” Joe muttered.
Tom winked. “Exactly. Just pretend.”
They reached the London Drugs on Kingsway just as the sun hit its golden hour. Inside, aisles of toys gleamed under flickering fluorescents. Transformers were stacked like treasure, but only one mattered: Megatron, the villainous Decepticon leader, chrome shining like a gun of justice gone rogue.
Tom motioned. “Joe, take it out of the box. Don’t rip the flap.”
Joe hesitated. “What if—?”
“Play with the toy. Be the kid. The staff? They’re background actors.”
Tom popped another Megatron from its cardboard prison, transforming it with one flick. “See? Freedom.”
“Mission accomplished,” Joe whispered, as they swaggered out, Megatrons in hand. The security sensors didn’t even blink.
Outside, Tom lit a stick of Big League Chew. “Put the toys in my group home safe,” he said casually. “They’ll be fine there.”
But days passed. Then weeks. The Jukics waited.
The Megatrons never returned.
Joe confronted Tom. “Where are they?”
Tom looked off into the middle distance like a man already starring in a sequel. “Sometimes… a mission goes dark. You don’t bring the toy back. You become it.”
Mike sighed. “No honor among thieves.”
And Tom? He was already gone, disappearing into the horizon with two stolen Megatrons and a devil’s grin, whispering to himself:
"Autobots… roll out."
Fade to black.
