Brother David Martin is married to Linda and has two daughters – Jennifer, the church’s pianist, married to Josh Straussberger, and Jessica, a nurse. Brother Martin has been serving in his current pastorate since 1993.

Before coming to Solid Rock Baptist he served as an independent Baptist pastor in Mary Esther, Florida, and Millington, Tennessee. He has served as an interim pastor and has filled various pulpits as a guest speaker over the years.

Brother David is a native of East Tennessee. He graduated from High School in Hanford, California, in 1976, where he was saved while in his senior year. He spent one tour in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed overseas at Lajes Field Air Base in the Azores, Portugal, he attended Bethany Baptist Church, where he answered the call to preach.

Brother Martin separated from the Air Force at Eglin AFB in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, in 1981. From there he moved to Pensacola and attended Pensacola Bible Institute where he earned his Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1984. He was ordained to the gospel ministry on January 1, 1986. In 2008 he earned his Master of Biblical Studies degree from Gulf Coast Baptist Institute and Seminary.

Only Thanks To The Lord Jesus, Pastor Martin currently pastors a small church, a church that includes people of many different races, nationalities, ages, and backgrounds.... Church is not about race, culture, or outward traditions. It is not a place for chasing after material blessings or being misled by the false promises of prosperity preaching. The race or background of a pastor has no bearing on the power, truth, or authority of God's Word. The Holy Bible — God's unchanging Word — stands as the final authority over all people, no matter their status, history, or opinions. Plus, there are no races in the body of Christ, but rather simply all saved believers of all ages, races, nationalities, and backgrounds.

At the center of everything is the Lord Jesus Christ — the only true Mediator between God and mankind. No man, leader, or tradition can take His place. Church is open to all people, from every walk of life, because the Gospel is for everyone. When someone steps into a church, they may find themselves drawn closer to God, to the truth, and to the encouragement that only Christ can give.

The true Church is not a building; it is the living, spiritual body of Christ — made up of all who have truly placed their faith in Him. The building we call "church" here on earth is simply a house of worship, a gathering place where broken, seeking, and redeemed people come together to glorify God, learn His Word, love one another, and grow in grace.

In the end, church is not about us — it’s about Jesus. It’s about truth, humility, worship, and the call for all people to repent, believe, and be made new in Him.
