Aging vs Longevity

Aging is general wear and tear, breaking down.
Longevity is determined by the development of chronic diseases.
TOR is the master controller of metabolism and development.
Insulin, growth factors, nutrients, and exercise activate the TOR pathway.
During early life, cell growth is balanced by cell division in proliferation cells and preventing hyperfunctioning cells.
In later life, the cell cycle stops, but TOR keeps going. The cells become hyperactive and become resistant to increased growth (i.e. insulin resistance). The cell is now senescent. These cells are linked to aging.
