Roger Ebert & Richard Roeper reviews "The Cat in the Hat" (Easily, one of the worst Dr. Seuss' live-action film adaptation I've ever saw and I had a free movie passes for it to see with my family in theatres. What a waste! Mike Myers was totally miscast in the title role, Spencer Breslin and Dakota Fanning in their annoying bratty roles as "Conrad" and "Sally", Kelly Preston giving nothing to do, Sean Hayes from "Will & Grace" plays a duel role as the jerky boss and the pet family fish and Alec Baldwin plays a sinister neighbor next door! Plus, lots of sexual innuendo and adult humor with a kitchy tone. All written by "Seinfeld" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" writers, Alec Berg, David Mandel and Jeff Schaffer and Bo Welch in his directorial debut. It's so horrible that Seuss's widow, Audrey Geisel decided it to not produced them in live-action and developed them as CGI Animated Features starting with "Horton Hears A Who!" (2008). It's a shame, too because I love the books, the animated specials and the PBS series with Martin Short, which came after. And I also love "The Grinch" with Jim Carrey.); "The Cooler" (Excellent film with William H. Macy and Alec Baldwin in his best performance and in a better movie than "The Cat in the Hat".); "In America"; An early review of "The Last Samurai" (A Electrifying Triumph! Starring: Tom Cruise.) Plus, second reviews of two films playing that week on "Gothika" (Not a great thriller but does have traumatizing moments with Halle Berry, Robert Downey Jr. and Penelope Cruz. Their debate was hilarious!) and "21 Grams" (Riveting and Ravishing Drama with Sean Penn, Naomi Watts and Benicio Del Toro).
