Who can legitimately claim to be the Messiah?

This video discusses the legal succession to the throne of Jerusalem. Jesus' brothers James and Simeon were the respective patriarchs of the Church of Jerusalem that was replaced by the Church of Rome, which allegedly crucified Jesus, and Pauline Christianity, which they disavowed. Indeed, if King Solomon had at least 1,000 wives and concubines (1 Kings 11:3) then the chances that Israelites who never left Palestine, as Romans called it, are descendants of King David is very high, just as most native Mongolians descend from Genghis Khan. Note also that modern "orthodox Judaism" is not a successor to the Talmudic tradition, since the Tannaim (the Mishnaic sages) believed Bar Kokhba is the Messiah. The Tannaim were also based in Jerusalem and Babylon (Iraq) around Baghdad and had no association with Europe.
