Illinois Senate Strip "Mother" and "Father"

During the evening of Thursday, May 29, 2025, the Illinois Senate debated and passed HB 2568 (Senate Amendment 2) by a partisan vote of 36 to 19. This legislation is titled the "Equality for Every Family Act" - which amends the Illinois Parentage Act of 2015 by mandating gender neutral pronouns. It also mandates the removal of "mother" and "father" and substituts it with the words "person" or "genetic parent." The absurd phrase "person who gave birth" is also a mandated substitution.
