In a sobering interview with Tucker Carlson, Republican Senator Ron Johnson laid bare the looming debt crisis threatening to collapse the U.S. economy. Both men agreed: there will be no bailout, no international rescue plan. “We’re alone again,” Johnson said, warning that America may soon lose its global reserve currency status—and with it, the power to print dollars at will.

Johnson explained how, for decades, the U.S. has sustained its economy through a dangerous but effective model: printing fiat money and trading it for goods made overseas. “We send out dollars and get back high-quality goods at very low cost. That’s been key to keeping inflation in check, even with massive deficits,” he stated.

But the senator was clear: that cycle can’t go on forever. “There are billions of underemployed people around the world. We supply the capital, they build the factories, we give them paper—fiat currency. We keep printing it. And it’s worked... so far,” he said, with a tone of forewarning.

Carlson jumped in to highlight the fragility of this system: “But no one’s coming to help us restructure our debt.” To which Johnson replied bluntly: “Nobody can.” The United States has built a mirage of prosperity on unsustainable debt and false stability—stability that now teeters on the edge as global confidence in the dollar wanes.

The ultimate threat, Johnson warned, is the world turning its back on the dollar as the reserve currency. That would end America’s exorbitant privilege and usher in a painful economic reckoning. “The gravy train,” as Johnson called it, “could stop at any time.”

Both Johnson and Carlson condemned the political class in Washington—Democrats and some Republicans alike—for ignoring this issue. “They’d rather spend, print, and plunge us deeper into debt than make tough choices,” Johnson said, calling for urgent national awakening.

The senator also took aim at President Biden, accusing him of fueling the crisis with reckless fiscal policies and globalist agendas that undermine American industry and economic sovereignty. “The Left wants a weak, dependent, and indebted America,” he charged.

The message is clear: America is approaching a breaking point. The days of easy spending and endless printing are over. And as Johnson warned, “when that happens, there won’t be a global savior. We’ll face the fallout alone.”
