A spokesperson of the family says the mother and her only son had taken a day trip to Bowen Island with a friend who was also injured in the crash. “The mother after eight hours of surgery is finally in stable condition and has avoided greater physical injuries ” the longtime family friend told Global News Thursday. The collision happened around 3:30 p.m. a the bus stop just outside the BC Ferries foot passenger ticket booth. Witnesses say a TransLink bus jumped the curb striking several people.

Multiple investigations are underway into a horrific bus crash in Horseshoe Bay, B.C., that left a four-year-old boy dead and his mother in critical condition on Wednesday.
