Short Tutorials & Mediums for Charcoal and Soft Pastel Colors Portrait Drawing

Mediums: Mixing of Charcoal set-24 sketches Faber-Castell brand, Rembrandt or BLOCKX brand Soft Pastels-72, Faber-Castell 60-set color along with White Soft Pastel Pencil, W&N Fixative and Pastelist/Pastelmat/Sandy Paper from Clairefontaine brand.

The Explanations:

I'm absolutely delighted to connect with everyone! In my pastel and charcoal drawings, I love to start with a strong foundation using my trusty charcoal set-24 sketches, where I sketch out the outlines and base layers.

For the vibrant middle layers, I dive into my fabulous soft pastels from Blockx set-72 or Rembrandt. They bring such life to my work, allowing me to create beautiful shadows with thick and deep effects—and I can’t resist the joy of blending and smoothing with my magic fingers! 😁 ✨

When it comes to adding intricate details and a finishing touch like pores, lips, eyes, eyebrows, hair, etc., reach for my beloved Pitt pastel pencils from my amazing 60-set Colour from the Faber-Castell brand collection, along with a Faber-Castell Pitt Soft White Pencil for those gorgeous hi-lights, bright and vibrant that truly make my art pop.

My canvas of choice? The Fantastic Special Pastelist /Pastelmat/Sandy Paper from Clairefontain brand! It’s just perfect for preventing smudging and helps my pastels adhere, stick, and absorb perfectly and beautifully, with soft sandy surface texture paper really enhancing my technique.

To ensure each piece stays vibrant and protected and anti-smudging for years to come, I always finish off with a W&N spray fixative. I truly hope that my work brings joy and inspiration to everyone who sees it and enjoys the drawings!
