In early May, Russian military units successfully breached the defense lines of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the vicinity of the "Severny" mine, located north of the city. In the imminent future, there is a strong probability that the efforts will be concentrated on enveloping Chasov Yar from the north. The objective of this maneuver is to establish a semi-envelopment of the enemy positions in the city center.

The city's territory itself remains extremely challenging to storm due to the presence of industrial construction, natural barriers, and obstructed logistical corridors, which significantly limit the ability to move safely through open terrain. The movement of vehicles and personnel is hindered by the active use of drones by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ukrainian formations have been known to initiate local counterattacks on occasion, attaining modest tactical successes in certain instances. Consequently, battles within the city limits frequently evolve into counter-attacks, exacerbating the chaotic nature of the already unpredictable combat scenario.
