Who create the word hello
Who create the word hello
who suggested using "hello" to begin conversations
The word "hello" as a greeting was popularized in the late 19th century, particularly with the invention of the telephone. While the word existed earlier, its common use as a greeting is largely credited to Thomas Edison.
Before "hello": People used greetings like "good day," "hail," or "how do you do?"
Edison’s role: When the telephone was invented, Edison suggested using "hello" to begin conversations. His rival, Alexander Graham Bell, preferred "ahoy", but "hello" won
First documented phone use: Edison used "hello" in a letter in 1877 suggesting it as the standard greeting when answering a call.
So, while Edison didn’t invent the word, he helped transform "hello" into the modern greeting we use today.
