Through Jesus all Glory is given to God

Paul is bringing to a close his argument that it is only through Jesus Christ that we can be saved. He reminds the church that the body of Christ consists of both Jews and Gentiles or in his words the “weak” and the “strong”. He emphasizes his earlier points that we as Christians are to receive one another and show the love of Christ to each other. He uses scripture to make a very strong point that we are to be receptive to other weaker Christians just as Christ is receptive to each one of us. Jesus becomes a servant for His Father to advance the message about the truth of God and to confirm the promises that God made to the fathers. Paul uses four Old Testament citations to get his point about the gentiles being an integral part in the body of Christ (Psalm 18:49; Deuteronomy 32:43; Psalm 117:1; Isaiah 11:10).

God desires that all souls will be saved. Unfortunately, that is not the case as we understand scripture. Even in the case of Israel, not all Jews will believe in Christ and find eternal life (Zechariah 13:8-9). This is why it is important that we as true believers are not to conform to the world view neither should we conform to the false teachings that exist today. One of the points Paul is trying to convey is that as mature Christians we have an obligation to the Lord to come along side younger (weaker) Christians to provide godly guidance to them and their families. In order to do that we need to be sound in our doctrine, in our beliefs and in our walk with Christ. Otherwise, you will put forth a cloud of confusion for those younger Christians who are trying to find their way in the new life that God has put before them.

Paul emphasizes that it is one body with one voice that creates an environment that will bring the church together. When we speak in unison there can be no confusion on the message. When the message is strong, the church becomes more effective in giving people the opportunity to find Christ. Just as we did when we were searching and seeking biblical wisdom in Christ for answers to some of life’s more complex problems.

If we as true believers share with others our relationship we have with Christ stressing the importance and benefits of a strong relationship with Jesus citing the biblical principles we are taught the benefits will be remarkable. Being obedient to God, we effectively are in lock step with God’s will and are providing hope in Christ to everyone when it really matters. When we couple these principles together and point them to God, the impacts on our lives will be everlasting and will lead to a robust fruitful life with Christ for eternity.

God uses different people in different circumstances so that we may see Him in action. If we look closely at some of the most difficult times in our lives we can see God guiding every circumstance. Conversely, even in the best of times we can see God with His guiding hand on everything. Through God’s grace and mercy with our openly receiving Jesus as our Lord and savior that we have been saved. It is not we who save, it is through the power of Christ who points to His Father that will excite people to growing in their walk with Christ.

My prayer is that we would never forget the moments where God is intervening and guiding our lives. I pray that we would give God all glory in recognizing that He is in control of everything. I pray that the non-believer will become strong believers in Jesus Christ so they may see the Triune God as we see Him. That they would know the path to heaven and the lost will walk on that path as true believers influencing others to know what they know and find true happiness in the Lord for the rest of their days.
