Figliuzzi on Jan. 6th: I Hope There Were Informants There, Not to Instigate Anything, But Rather Make a Report

WITT: “I want to pick up on this because FBI director patel says that a definitive answer is going to come soon. As to whether there were FBI sources present at the January 6th insurrection last year, DoJ report Frank found three FBI confidential sources were in the crowd outside the Capitol that day. But they were not directed to break the law, nor encourage any others to commit any illegal acts. So what do you expect to come from patel’s probe, and why would FBI sources have been outside the Capitol?”

FIGLIUZZI: “You know, so you’re right, this isn’t news. There might be even more that they find in terms of assets and informants present there. And I have to tell you, one of the first things I thought when I saw what was playing out on January 6th was, this is awful. You know, our country is in trouble. But the next thought was, god, I hope there are FBI informants there, because guess what? We had seditious conspirators there in the form of leadership of the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers. And there was intelligence within the FBI that violence could play out. So, yes, I hope there were three informants there, and not that they were instigating anything, but rather that they could report on predicated subjects of domestic terrorism investigations. So, you know, what I expect to see is, oh, this was terrible. There’s informants there. And then the implication that somehow that’s wrong, when actually maybe there should have been more.”
