A former journalist with 23 years of experience and two-time National Press Club award winner, he now serves as a Texas-based Senior National Security Fellow for the Center for Immigration Studies, focusing on the nexus of immigration and national security. Bensman has reported from the U.S. border, Mexico, Central and South America, and Europe, and is a frequent media commentator and congressional witness on terrorism and border security. Previously, he led counterterrorism intelligence for the Texas Department of Public Safety for nearly a decade. He holds an M.A. in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School and an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Missouri.
