Augustine wrote "The City of God" in 426 CE. It became the Magnum Opus of Christendom in terms of Philosophical thought. Pagans blamed the Fall of Rome on Christianity; somewhat, Rome was crumbling from within for centuries. The City of God juxtaposes the City of Man with God's Eternal Kingdom. Luther concretized the term "Man Curved in on himself" and "Homo incurvatus in se," imprinted with the Imago Dei - but worshiping the self.

David Joannes is the founder of a mission organization based in Thailand working among unreached people, and he just finished his fourth book, See the City: Hope for the Bruised, Battered, and Broken-Hearted, based on the life of a young refugee girl in Myanmar.
