In the early 90s I ran a comic/card store as well as doing some commercial art. I had an idea of a dark anti-hero vigilante character. I took my ideas to my life long friend and we formed a working partnership. Joseph was the writing talent and I supplied the art as well as some story and character designs. Even though our character is not in the DC or Marvel universe I am a DC fan and my partner was a Marvel fan. So the character was written like a Marvel character and I drew it more like a DC comic. Our comic sold exclusively in my store. As we developed the cast of characters and built his world we quickly realized that the people wanted to see our character interacting with famous characters from the DC and Marvel universes. Over the run Blackheart appeared with Batman in two story arcs, Superman for a one shot, and Spider-man in a story arc. What you see here happen in issue 16, in this story arc Batman is in pursuit of an assassin hunting the President of the USA and runs into Blackheart. Not knowing if Blackheart is a friend or foe they clash. This story was written in like 92, and the art was sold and lost to time. My writing partner passed away in 2015 ending our run. Over this last holiday season Joseph's family sent me his digital files of all the stories we worked on. This was a great gift to me. I decided to re-imagine the art and started with my favorite #16 "A Shot in the Dark". In the day I did not have the time to do panel pages for the entire issue, so we released them in a short story format with my art for the covers and some splash and a few panel pages. Originally I used pen and ink, but today I use graphite pencil. In this final section I put the finishing touches on the page and you can see my cover, and pages 1-4. If you have any questions regarding our character, or my art process please feel free to reach out. I hope you enjoy my comic work. If so please like and follow. Thanks
