LUPERCALIA: the February 15th festival of wolves and Luperci

Lupercalia, celebrated on February 15th, was an ancient Roman festival honoring fertility, wolves, and the god Lupercus. Priests called Luperci performed rituals at the Lupercal cave, including animal sacrifices and symbolic purification rites. This wild celebration marked the coming of spring and inspired later traditions like Valentine's Day.
