AR-0160: The 1998 vampire Western "Vampires" [aka "John Carpenter's Vampires"] was an underrated example of Carpenter's filmography. It is not that well known that there were two DTV [direct-to-video] sequels issued in the early 2000s, of which this was the first.

This time, Jon Bon Jovi plays Derek Bliss, a low-ranking but expertly efficient vampire hunter who is hired by a mysterious client to form a team of hunters to mount a strike on a hive of suckers in Mexico. But the potential recruits keep getting killed before Derek can hire them. Eventually he manages to form a rag-tag team of hunters, but it seems something big is going down...

Not a particularly good example of the 2000s horror genre, but not the worst either, just a forgettable vampire Western with some sloppy writing.

My Grade: D+ [Disappointing]
