The Whistler (1944)

The first in a series based on the popular radio program. Directed by William Castle, the film follows a grief-stricken industrialist (Richard Dix) who, believing his wife is dead, hires a hitman to end his own life. But when he learns she's still alive, he desperately tries to call off the hit—only to find the killer won’t stop until the job is done.
