Star Wars Coasting on Nostalgia Will Be Its Downfall

Star Wars is coasting on echoes of the past and failing to create anything new in the process. Battlefront 2 is seeing a massive resurgence, 8 years after its release. More popular than ever as fans are desperate to capture the FEEL of a galaxy far, far away I suppose. Mark Hamill announcing he likely will not be Luke Skywalker ever again and the franchise need move on from its central family, knowing full well his voice and likeness will be puppeted around in perpetuity in whatever Filoni/Favreau abomination goes to Cinema and Streaming.

Worst of all is the upcoming Maul: Shadow Lord show. A dead character, resurrected to gnaw at nostalgia and little else. Simplicity was Darth Maul's game and after years of puppeteering in the Clone Wars, he gets his own break away show to expose just how creatively bankrupt Lucasfilm truly is.
