Mother's Day at The St. James Social (Lake Superior)

Hey everyone, Geoffrey Serdar here! This Mother's Day, we skipped the usual and headed to the charming town of Bayfield, Wisconsin, on the shores of Lake Superior. It wasn't just about celebrating the amazing moms in our lives, but also about honoring craftsmanship, connection, and a truly hidden gem: The St. James Social. Curated by Annalisa and Cody Bermel (Annalisa's design touch you might know from the Hewing Hotel in Minneapolis!), this boutique hotel is a masterclass in timeless, approachable elegance.

We explored Bayfield's soulful side, meeting Stephanie and Piper at Apostle 22 (and later connecting with owner Frank Roffers!), and sharing stories at Bayfield Winery & Blue Ox Cider where one of the owners grew up in my hometown!

The food at The St. James Social's restaurant was phenomenal – from roasted bone marrow to filet mignon and mushroom risotto, capped off with an ethereal performance by S. Carey of Bon Iver.

This trip, rooted in family history with the Apostle Islands, added a new chapter. We came for Mother's Day but left with so much more.
