The Legend of William Tell

The narrative describes how Gessler ruled the Swiss village with brutality, forcing villagers to kneel before his hat mounted on a pole in the town square. When William Tell, a skilled marksman, visits the village and refuses to kneel, Gessler punishes him by ordering him to shoot an apple off his son's head.
