10 Years of Sobriety in God's strength | Testimony

NEW YEAR 2023 MARKS TEN YEARS OF SOBRIETY!!! "Drankin fo-tees" and "Schmokin blints" was my "all day erry day" routine that I couldn't stop if I wanted to. The prob was I didn't want to for so long and then the moment I'd say "I wanna cut back", literally someone would knock on my door holding a twelve pack and a sack ready to roll up and I would rationalize with myself and say things like "well, as long as I don't spend money on it, its ok"... Bad motto. People don't like to drink and get high alone so its always readily available for free. The day or two I'd go without one or the other, I'd be spending my whole day frustrated trying to find a dealer or in a couple cases, walking miles in the blazing heat across the TN line from GA just to buy beer on Sunday and cracking it open behind an abandoned business because I couldn't wait to get home (I'd have an extra one to drink once I got home as well).
Anyway, I couldn't set myself free. Until I laid it down before God and He knew my heart was true about wanting to be set free from addictive behaviors, He took the addictions away overnight and for the first time ever, i had zero withdraws. Only God can set you free like that. We will fail every time we try to do it in our own strength and power. There are thousands of others who have been set free from addictions without rehab by just asking God to give them the strength to let go of the addictions and move on with a sober mind and have life more abundantly. It's His promise. We just have to call out to Him for help. He wants to help us more than we want to help ourselves, but He's always there waiting with His arms wide open waiting to embrace you in His Love.
