Teaching Without Ties: How One Educator Escaped the Union

Middle school special-education teacher Karin Majewski never considered leaving her union – that is, until 2020, when the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) began advocating for political causes that Majewski vehemently disagreed with. Thanks to the Freedom Foundation, Majewski was able to leave her union and join a union alternative. Despite pushback from her local union, she has become an advocate for freedom of choice and continues to help other teachers and school support staff seek out union options that support them and their values.
