A Public Service Announcement About Apple, and their App Store

I rarely, if ever, buy apps.

I’d say a good 97% of whatever is on my phone is free; social media apps, a couple games, apps that come standard with the phone…

But I’ve never been able to find a good, free, calorie counter.

Sure, there are a ton of free calorie counters…

…but they all tend to blow goats.

Thus, I set out to find one I’d have to pay for, that was easy to use, and (most importantly) accurate.

ParrotPal was neither.

So, I deleted it immediately after downloading.

Didn’t even keep it a day.

Scanned a couple barcodes, got results that were wildly different from the label, said, “No bueno, done.”

And I still got charged for it.

As said in the video, ParrotPal took zero responsibility for the charge, and told me to deal with Apple.

Apple, who I’ve had one bad interaction with since 2008, said, “We want to keep your money.”

Which was strange.

I’m sure people will come out of the woodworks with their “Apple sucks!” nonsense, but this is only the second time in many years I’ve had a problem with them.

(And, to be fair, the first was with a horrible customer service rep that I’m sure was fired not long after. Dude was just a douche and a half.)

Thankfully, again, as stated, my credit card company stepped up and removed the fraudulent charge.

Sadly, I bet they ate the cost.

It’d be nice to think they went after Apple and told them to stop ripping customers off, but I bet they didn’t want the fight.

Anyway, just a heads up.
