Cryptworm may be a new name to some, but those whom have listened to their swampy brand of filth-ridden Death Metal will know of its excellence."
The UK death metal duo Cryptworm have been slithering in the depths since 2014, but haven’t released too much from the studio. It’s no surprise given the activity of drummer Joe Knight (Haunted Sanity, Swarost) and Tibor Hanyol (Coffinborn, Morbid Carnage) on bass, guitars, as well as handling vocal duties. Their self-titled demo dropped in 2017, the Verminosis EP a year later, then a split with Archaic Tomb in 2019. For 2020, they find themselves working with Me Saco Un Ojo Records for a second EP titled Reeking Gunk of Abhorrence.

Alright so lets get into the review now shall we?
So the album opens with “Festering Maggot Infestation” and I mean that really sums up what this fucking track sounds like in my opinion. The raw savagery of the slime-ridden riffing and sick fucking bass all thundering along with the absolute bestial onslaught of amazing intense blasting in the drums that then gives way into an crushing puss viscera of brutality and rot. The vocals are so fucking guttural that they literally sound like a gurgling beast from beyond the void… so puss filled and vomit inducing as is this entire track an absolutely sick vile piece of disgusting filth! Killer fucking opener!

Next up we have “Reeking Gunk Of Abhorrence” and you know? If these song titles were anymore aptly titled it would be ridiculous… This track is nothing short of morbid rotting slime engulfing you and the stench of rot and puss emits through the air as you are soaked in these absolutely sick vile riffs and amazing bass, drum work and inhuman low guttural vocals that make the album so fucking hard to duplicate and this is how you fucking do death metal properly. Its not supposed to be approachable and anything less than vile and disgusting. That was the whole fucking point let us not forget and Cryptworm surely know this., This has influences from Exhumed, Autopsy, Immolation and Incantation which are 4 of the most elite fucking bands in death metal. Cryptworm are no fucking exception to this at all. In fact im going to go onto say that this is easily my favorite Death Metal record of 2020 easily. …. So lets listen to “Reeking Gunk Of Abhorrence” right here on Music Of Destruction enjoy the slime…. And we are back and yeah man total fucking slime ridden morbid rot and destruction. Another sick fucking song!

Next up is Self-Dismemberment and the violence and absolute rotting stench of death just gets more intense on this apocalyptic soundtrack of brutality and insanity. This one is so fast and brutal that youd swear your limbs were being hacked off by a fucking chainsaw with your guts spewing out all over the godamned ground. Brutal and uncompromised raw filth spewing from your speakers while you headbang so fucking hard your neck and hair grow like 6 fucking inches and that’s exactly what this fucking sounds like… imagine the most putrid rotting fucking stench emitting from the bodies of 1000 opened graves and that’s what you get with “Self-Dismemberment” fuck , the whole godamned album! Another sick fucking track!
