A new documentary from Al Jazeera takes a look at evidence of genocide in Gaza in the form of social media posted by Israeli soldiers recording and celebrating their own attacks on Palestinians.

We play excerpts from the film Investigating War Crimes in Gaza, now available online, and speak to two of the journalists involved in its production, director Richard Sanders and Gaza-based correspondent Youmna El Sayed.

"Israelis themselves were telling us precisely what they were doing and why they were doing it," says Sanders about the evidence the team reviewed. "They don't think it's complicated. They don't think it's nuanced.

Their rhetoric is often overtly genocidal." El Sayed adds, "They've had all the courage to do that because they know that they are not even going to be condemned."

Youmna El Sayed is a Gaza-based correspondent for Al Jazeera. Since October 7, 2023, she has reported on Israel's continued bombardment of Gaza while navigating what has become one of the deadliest stories for journalists to cover in living memory. In late October, her family was personally threatened in a phone call from the Israeli military.
