Feds move to cut red tape on major national projects

The federal government tabled landmark legislation today to cut the red tape on major national projects and to eliminate internal trade barriers. David Akin looks at what the bill is promising.

We have exclusive reporting tonight: Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree has stepped back from national security discussions and decisions related to the Tamil community after requesting a screen to avoid conflict of interest due to past actions and affiliations. Anandasangaree was born in Sri Lanka and leads Ottawa’s efforts to secure Canada’s borders. Mercedes Stephenson reports.

Despite calls to bury the hatchet, U.S. President Donald Trump and his former billionaire aid Elon Musk are showing no signs of making up. Their nasty public feud over Trump’s domestic policy bill exploded online and escalated yesterday. Today, Trump said he’s not interested in talking to Musk anytime soon, but there’s a lot at stake on both sides. Jackson Proskow has more.

And, Ukraine’s capital Kyiv came under an intense overnight attack from Russia. At least four people were killed and nearly 50 were injured. Russia suggested it was a direct response to Ukraine’s surprise attack on military airfields last weekend. And as Redmond Shannon reports, it further dampens the prospects of a peace deal.
