Episode 849: Adam was created in God's image, you and I are not

Hello everyone. In this morning's Bible study we continue to look in depth at Revelation 1 verses 5 - 6.

These two verses are the foundation of the gospel and the true revelation of why the LORD God sent His Son Christ Jesus the Lord into the world.

If you get this part wrong then the remainder of the book of Revelation will not be cohesive as it should. It will cause you to read things into the text to fit your understanding instead of allowing the text to guide your understanding.

So what does these verses reveal to us? They reveal the cause and effect of the New Birth.

The New Birth? Yes.

There is more false teaching and believing regarding the new birth than any other Bible doctrine with the exception of the gospel. The new birth is not of this world neither can it be performed by anyone in this world. The new birth is not a lifestyle or an act that you can "participate" in. The new birth is not a modification of behavior nor faithful godly religious works.

The new birth is performed by God the Holy Spirit through the killing and annihilation of our old human spirit and the creation of a new human spirit that have existed before. All these things happens prior to the sinner doing or saying anything.

As a matter of biblical fact, the sinner is dead in trespasses and sins therefore according to the scriptures cannot do anything that can please a holy God.

Romans 8:7-8 (NKJV)
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)
14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Salvation to the sinner, which is all of us, is impossible.
Matthew 19:25-26 (NKJV)
25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “WHO THEN CAN BE SAVED?”
26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “WITH MEN THIS (SALVATION) IS IMPOSSIBLE, but with God all things are possible.” (ONLY GOD CAN GIVE IT TO YOU through the Spirit of Life and Christ.)
