WITT: “You so much for that. We’re going to bring in right now, Shelby Talcott, White House correspondent for semafor. So welcome to you, shelby. In one of your articles, you describe the feud between Trump and Musk as a messy breakup, which could have long-term ramifications. So now that appears, both sides have calmed down at least somewhat, and Musk certainly has deleted some of his bombshell tweets or whatever you call them on x. I don’t even know what you call them. Where do things stand now? And I’m curious the overall implications of this dispute.”

TALCOTT: “Well, I think it remains. To be seen. Especially given. The president’s comments to Kristen Welker today, where he did threaten to, you know, impose some unknown consequences on Elon Musk if he decides to help Democrats coming up in the midterms. And so I think that’s notable. And what I think is, you’re right, it is kind of a simmering tension that seems to have come down from its peak. But these are two individuals who have very strong personalities, who have very big egos and who knows. Right. In an hour or two, maybe Elon Musk sees the comments that Trump recently made and ratchets things back up. I think that’s entirely possible. But for now, when I talk to White House officials, this is kind of the worst case scenario. This is exactly what they did not want happening. That is why for days we heard nothing from Trump when Elon Musk was attacking his big, beautiful bill. It was silence. They wanted to keep things focused on the bill. They didn’t want to get into this public spat. But I think some people think it was inevitable.”
