Police chase in Ajax Ontario

On June 1, 2025, at around 1:00 p.m., West Division police responded to an attempted armed carjacking near Salem Road and Williamson Drive East in Ajax.

A male suspect approached a victim sitting in his parked vehicle, brandished a weapon, and demanded the car. The victim escaped by driving away, unharmed.

The suspect fled before police arrived, but officers from West Division, K9, the Tactical Support Unit, and Air1 searched the area. Air1 spotted a suspicious male, guiding ground officers to his location.

After a brief foot pursuit, 19-year-old Nidhish Mathisudan of Ajax was arrested. A knife, believed to be used in the crime, was found on him. He faces charges including robbery, possession of a weapon for committing an offense, obstructing a police officer, and failing to comply with a release order.
