The Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano, Italy, is one of the most renowned and ancient miracles in Catholic tradition, dating back to the 8th century, around the year 750 AD. According to historical accounts, a Basilian monk who was celebrating Mass in the Church of St. Legontian was experiencing doubts about the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. During the consecration, as he pronounced the words of institution, the Host visibly transformed into flesh, and the wine into blood before his eyes. The miraculous elements were preserved, and over the centuries, numerous investigations have confirmed their authenticity. Modern scientific studies, particularly a 1970s examination by Italian researchers and later reconfirmed by medical experts, revealed that the flesh is human heart tissue (myocardium) and the blood is of type AB — both showing characteristics of being fresh despite being over 1,200 years old.
