Fifty years of amnesia - measles now and then

A childhood disease that had largely disappeared by the time the Brady kids caught it and enjoyed their measles party at home. The Brady Bunch still grinned through the measles. But fifty years later, the media now treats it as if it were one of the most atrocious killer diseases around – despite the numbers remaining statistically insignificant.

The retrospective view with the Brady Bunch showed a level-headed media response. Today, however, the media dishes out fear porn beyond all proportion – a contrast that couldn’t be more striking.
