By 1800, shockingly the grandchildren of those who went through The Great Awakening were mostly not religious. In fact that generation was more anti-God and faith than anything. The major Universities were much like they are today: very much the opposite of their original founding purpose: to train clergy. The general society was so rough women would not go out at night. The lewdness and lawless drunkenness was appalling!
