Memorial Ride for Safer Roads. One June 10th, over 200 cyclists gathered for the Roseann Peiffer Memorial Ride -- a 4-mile slow roll through Whitehouse with a police escort. Roseann, a beloved wife, mother, and athlete, was tragically killed by a distracted driver while out cycling. This emotional event brought together friends, family, and members of several athletic clubs including Team Toledo Triathlon Club, Toledo Area Bicycle Club, The Wheelmen, Dave's Running, and more to honor Roseann's life and raise awareness about distracted driving and cycling safety. Competing in the USA Triathlon National Championships in Atlantic City, New Jersey was an unforgettable experience! This two-day event brought together the top athletes from every state to race Olympic and Sprint distance triathlons at Bader Field. The race was not without challenges. After the swim had started, a dense fog rolled in, causing a 25-minute delay as lifeguards could not see the swimmers and they had to be pulled back from the water for safety. Some racers faced the fog during the swim and bike portions of the race. There were two cycling accidents on the Atlantic City Expressway during the race, The run finished on the scenic Atlantic City boardwalk. Take the plunge with the Team Toledo Triathlon Club at one of their open water swim sessions! This video captures the action at Centennial Quarry in Sylvania, Ohio, where swimmers tackled a minimum of 400-500 yards of swimming around the quarry's perimeter as part of their triathlon training. Team Toledo offers swim clinics during some of their sessions, and there are members of Master's Swimming available to answer questions about memberships to Master's Swimming. Membership is open to adults who can swim 500 yards consecutively, so whether you're a seasoned triathlete or just starting your multisport journey, or just want a place to swim, there's a place for you.
